On Thursday, February 6th at the Chicago Auto Show, Kia unveiled the new Kia Soul EV, their first fully electric vehicle. Scheduled to be available in the latter half of 2014, the Soul EV is set to do big things in the automotive market. Initially the new jewel of the Kia line-up will be available in markets where electric vehicles are already making waves, but research is being conducted to make sure the Soul EV is a viable option in other places. For those wondering if a purely electric vehicle could ever survive a winter on the Canadian prairies, you will be pleased to hear the answer is yes. The Kia team has been testing the new Soul in Sweden where temperatures reach the same lows seen in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Clearly, there is an environmental advantage in avoiding the use of gasoline to fuel the Soul EV. But Kia didn’t stop there. In an historic move, Kia obtained the first-ever automotive environmental validation from Underwriters Laboratory for using more than 20 bio-friendly materials in the manufacturing of the Soul EV itself.

These innovations are just the tip of the iceberg of what the all-new Kia Soul EV has to offer. Watch the video below to get your first look at this amazing vehicle, and don’t forget to visit our Facebook page to let us know what you think!
